Heights of Oman
Discover more about the heritage and history of the country when we explore the bustling souks and imposing forts of Oman 's cultural capital, as well as seeing the spectacular Grand Mosque, the Royal Palace and historical Forts. Our journey takes us through the land of traditional villages, ancient traders and dramatic scenery. Trekking across plateau's, landscapes and visiting remote mountain villages, the tour is a great way to experience Oman 's tranquility and rich culture much of which is still relatively undiscovered. We trek in the spectacular and rugged interior of Oman 's landscape and experience the isolation and peacefulness of its terrain. We travel by 4WD to the green mountains of the Jebel Akhdar with its villages scattered on the mountainside with terraced fields of fruit, cherry blossom and saffron all creating a palette of colours and scents. Visitiing isolated communities gives a great opportunity to meet the local population who normally have little interaction with western cultures. There are a number of occasions to sample the traditional cuisine and delicacies as well as observing the features of mountain villages including the architecture, farming procedures and traditional irrigation systems. Overnight we camp beneath the desert sky giving the opportunity to reflect on the days events spent amongst captivating landscapes. Finally, we return to the Gulf of Oman coast where you can spend some time relaxing at a tranquil private beach overlooking the Islands of Al Sawadi.

Adventure Trekking
This trekking holiday explores the most dramatic sections of the Al Hajar range of mountains which run the length of Oman 's northern coastline, rising above the blue waters of the Gulf to a height of 3000 metres (9843ft). Starting out amongst the Western Hajar Mountains , we follow rugged trails between picturesque mountain villages, each with its groves of date palms and intricately terraced fields. Camping out on the high Sharaf al Alamayn Plateau and on the Sayq Plateau, we visit the high point of Oman at the summit of Jabal Shams and enjoy far-reaching views across a landscape of jagged ridge-lines and intervening canyons. A night in a comfortable hotel at the former capital of Nizwa, with time to explore the town's forts and market streets provides a welcome break, before we complete a 2-day trek across the Eastern Hajar Mountains - which ends conveniently at a camp on the beach.

Discover this as you paddle the gentle coastal waters of the Gulf of Oman , stopping en route to snorkel or fish or simply relax on a secluded beach. Overnight we make a simple camp on the sandy beaches and enjoy the tranquility of sunset and sunrise at the waters edge. After a few days 4WDs meet us to continue our journey by land to the stunning wadis and into the mountains for panoramic views and walking in the cool air.
