Jebel Akhdar (Green Mountain)

 We were going to hold a camping weekend on the mountain and ask a few people over. Somehow it's turning into a bigger event than we thought.

 Jebel Akhdar is a great place; beautiful and unspoilt, clean cool air, very few people and no roads until 2 years ago. Up until then there was no tarmac road to the top due to the military having a camp up there and so it was very restricted access. Even today you will need to show your driving licence at the check point where the Police will permit 4 X 4 vehicles only. This is due to the steepness of the road and the effects on your clutch. There are no exceptions to this rule so you must inform us beforehand of your mode of transportation. This is explained further down this page.

 The main points to take note of are:-

1.This will be a camping weekend, overnight 30th March.

2.Whatever package you select you must bring your own sleeping bag.

3.We will provide toilets and washing facilities, (the water will be cold).

4.Tents can be provided but you must advise us beforehand, otherwise you will have to sleep outside in the cold with the donkeys.

5.The camp site is located at elevation 2,400 mtrs above sea level. During the day we expect reasonably warm conditions. During the night the temperature drops to quite chilly. If you check the internet you'll see what we mean. Bring some warm clothing for the late night toilet trot from the tent. We shall have a large bon-fire during the evening.

1st shuttle bus and convey will leave police check point at the base of Jebel Akhdar ( Wadi Moudine) at 1100 on the 30th March.

6.The run will start at 15:30 on the 30th.

7.The run on the 31st will start approx. 11:00 depending on hangovers.

We are offering three pricing packages, depending on your mode of transport into Oman:-

Full = Pick-up from Seeb International Airport / Hotel in Muscat general area (Marjan), transport to and from the camp site and basic camping equipment (no sleeping bag). Price: 45 OR

Hash Event Only = You will have your 4 x 4 and camping equipment (including sleeping bag). Price as per Basic package below.
Price: 35 OR

No 4 x 4 = You will have your own camping equipment and get yourself to the Police check point at the foot of Jebel Akhdar. We shall transport you and your equipment (including sleeping bag) to and from the camp site. Price 40 OR .

The basic package for all will be:

Friday 30th March 2007 = Lunch and Dinner

Saturday 31st March 2007 = Breakfast and Lunch

Free Beer and wine will be provided on each day until it runs out
